We want to continue to provide resources to people who are interested in learning about their ancestral roots, and to raise up members in our community who can learn and pass on the culture, history, languages, traditions, and values of the Ryūkyū Islands. To accomplish this, the OAA needs to raise funds to increase our community outreach. Our goal is to connect with people of all ages who are on their roots journey by continuing meaningful programs and creating new ones.

Additionally, this will mark the 4th year of canceling our largest annual fundraiser, the Okinawa Bazaar. Even though we’ve brought back other large in-person events, the board and many core volunteers felt that more time was needed to take on the massive operations required for the Bazaar. That being said, the board of directors and fundraiser planning committee, led by Amy Oshiro Tran and Kristin Yamauchi, decided to bring back the Bazaar’s most popular element and make that the center of this year’s fundraiser – saataa andaagii!
