Ways That
You Can Help OAA

Hawthorne Savings
Fundraiser Program
Hawthorne Savings has established the Fundraiser Program to help nonprofit
organizations in the communities they serve. All organizations recognized
by the IRS as nonprofit are eligible for the Fundraiser Program. Each
branch will have a list of nonprofit organizations in their area. The
nonprofit organization must have a $100,000 monthly average balance
in its member’s Hawthorne accounts to be eligible for a donation.
It is not necessary to individually own an account with the above total
of $100,000 for a nonprofit organization to benefit from the program.
Individuals opening accounts, naming a qualified nonprofit organization
of their choice, will be counted with other members toward the $100,000
qualifying amount whether the funds are to be held in transaction accounts
(checking & savings) or CD accounts. The donation of Hawthorne Savings
to the nonprofit organization is based on a yearly calculation with
qualifying funds held in deposit on December 31st and donation to the
organization in January of the following year.
How is the Donation
Calculated?
CD accounts earn ½% or $500 per $100,000 based on an annualized
term. This means that if a CD is opened for less than a year, the donation
will be prorated. Transaction accounts (checking & savings) earn
½% or $500 per $100,000 based on accounts average monthly balance
paid on an annualized term. There is no limit on the donation an organization
can receive. Hawthorne Savings, Gardena Branch, located next door to
the Albertsons Market at Western Ave. & Artesia Blvd., recognizes
the Okinawa Association of America, Inc. (OAA) as a nonprofit organization
that can benefit from this Fundraising Program. Your decision to open
an account at Hawthorne Savings can benefit the OAA if you name OAA
as your nonprofit organization of choice.
Automobile Donation
to OAA
OAA has received its first automobile donation from Mr. & Mrs. George
Inafuku. The proceeds from the sale of their 1986 Toyota Camry became
a tax deductible charitable donation since OAA is designated as a 501c3
non-profit organization. Donated automobiles will be picked up by OAA.
