OAA Issues
Appeal for Books
If you've seen our
OAA, Inc. Library recently, you'll see that a lot of volunteer hours
have been put in to get it organized and ready for use. Thanks to Istumi
Jacomo, all the books we have in Japanese are listed, though not yet
categorized, and are ready for checking out. According to Jane Kuniyoshi,
Library Chairperson, "Although we have an abundance of Japanese
books, our number of English books are very meager. Since the Board
has agreed to expand our library space, we will need many, many more
English books, related to Okinawa or Japan of any subject. Also, we
need bookshelves".
If you or anyone
you know have books (English mostly, although we're accepting any kind
of books related to Okinawa/Japan), and would like to donate them to
our library, it would be greatly appreciated. The OAA, Inc. Board will
also consider purchasing some currently published books about Okinawa
that will be of interest to our membership. If there are any requests
for any book(s) in particular you'd like to see in our library, please
let Jane know. She's at the OAA Center every Tuesday. If you'd like
to volunteer working in the library, you may call Yoko or Jane at (310)
532-1929.
A special THANK
YOU to Joy Afuso for donating bookshelves and filing cabinets.
