OAA Website
Update
January 18, 2004

Ryan Masaaki Yokota,
UCLA M.A. Candidate and OAA Website Update Developer, speaks at the
2004 OAA New Year's Party.
Chaganjyu!
It is with great happiness
and hope that I speak to you today at our annual new years event.
This year was a fruitful
year for the OAA website in that we were able to redesign the website
to increase its aesthetics and also develop a structure that would allow
the site to grow in the future. Frequent updates were made to the news
updates section and to the upcoming events sections, which increased
the functionality of the website beyond its more static nature before.
In this regard, it is the fervent hope of the web team to make the OAA
a great online resource for information related to our organization.
To give you an idea of the
reach of the website, from January 20, 2003 until today, which is almost
a full year, there have been 2,157 unique visitors to the website. By
unique visitors, we mean that these are users who are going to the website
for the first time and are not repeat visitors. We average 165 unique
hits per month, and though it is often difficult to track these things,
at least 10% of our traffic is from people in Japan. As you can see,
our website is a great tool for outreach to those people who have internet
access and want to learn about our activities.
Our website is currently
hosted through the generosity of Wataru Ebihara and the Little Tokyo
Service Center, whose JANet service has been kind enough to give us
the server space and support. Our web advisors team consists of:
Chogi Higa
Ken Kamiya
Jane Kuniyoshi
Helene Shimane, and
Aiko Tokunaga
Mieko Shima and Yoko Maeda
serve as Proofreaders for the website.
Sadao Tome is the main editor
and I am the website developer. All told, we are extremely excited about
the growth of the website and look forward to developing it further.
If you have not done so already, please visit the website, and drop
us a line if you have any comments on how to improve our site.
Thank you!
