Activities Committee
(Seisonen-Bu)
Chairperson: Masanobu
Ajifu
The Seisonen-Bu
is organized under the umbrella of the OAA to foster friendship through
sports and other activities among OAA families, friends and other Japanese
communities as well as international Okinawans.
Our annual agenda
includes the following:
Spring (March or
April)
- Bowling tournament
usually held in West Covina/Hacienda Heights area to encourage youth
and family participation. Annually attended by approximately 120 to
140 players.
Summer (July/August)
- Help coordinate
and organize summer picnic. Seisonen-Bu members are the hardworking
group during our picnic to transport equipments and organize games
and activities for entire day for the families to enjoy.
- Participating
in the Nisei Week parade is also part of our annual activities. Again
the members are called on to transport equipments such as banners,
poles etc. and set up and join in the parade.
Fall (September
or October)
- Golf Tournament
- At the
end of the summer comes golf season and the Seisonen-Bu organizes
the OAA golf tournament, attended annually by 80 to 100 golfers, consisting
of OAA members and their friends.
- Bazaar - Seisonen-Bu
is also in charge of a delicious BBQ every year.
Besides these activities,
Seisonen-Bu is the "muscle" of the OAA and is often called upon to work
concurrently with all other committees. Attend one or all of these events
and give us your input and have fun!
