Organization
The Okinawa Association
of America is managed by 15 elected Board of Directors. At annual membership
meetings the members elect seven or eight Directors each year for a
two-year term and a President for a two-year term. Two Vice Presidents,
a Secretary, a Treasurer, and Chairs of the committees are appointed
by the Board. The 15 Board of Directors and Officers meets at least
once a month, and generally meet on the third Sunday of every month.
There are ten committees
to provide specialized programs:
The Performing
Arts Committee (Geino-Bu) is the largest group, and 24 independent Okinawan
dance, music, and Taiko studios belong to the group. When needed, we
create special committees to carry out special projects.
